Sedation Dentistry in Colorado Springs

If anxiety keeps you from getting the restorative dentistry you need, a Colorado Springs sedation dentist might be what you need to get back a beautiful healthy smile.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Does your heart pound and your pulse race every time you think about going to the dentist? Do you feel pain when the doctor slightly touches your gums?

Now, imagine not being afraid to go to the dentist.  Imagine a dental cleaning with no anxiety.  Imagine being able to accomplish all your dental care in as little as one appointment. Many other dental offices offer mild sedation for dental treatment.  Valium and Nitrous Oxide are common options for many offices. Our restorative dentistry takes a different approach.

Northgate Dental goes a step further

We offer a sedation dentist Colorado Springs residents feel safe and comfortable using—including IV Moderate Sedation Dentistry.

NuCalm is a patented neuroscience technology designed to naturally relax your mind and body within minutes, without drugs.  Ask us more about this at your appointment!

Nitrous Oxide: Laughing gas

Nitrous Oxide has been around for a long time. It provides a calm, relaxed feeling while in the dental chair, but the feeling disappears quickly so that most people can drive and resume normal activities after their appointment. We recommend this option to take off the edge of mild anxiety. It is not always the best choice for people with high anxiety.

Oral Sedation Dentistry: Take a pill and relax.

Patients can expect a mild state of relaxation with pills given by oral sedation dentists. This is a good option for people who experience some anxiety with their restorative treatments. We first review your medical history. On the day of your appointment, you will take a pill; a companion will bring you to the office. Our experienced clinical teams make certain that you are relaxed and comfortable. We will monitor you closely while you are sedated. Then your companion will take you home afterward.

IV Sedation Dentistry: You sleep while we work. read more

More and more people are expressing interest in being heavily sedated for dental appointments. For some, the choice of sedation is a matter of anxiety and fear – others just don’t want to be bothered with the noise, strange sensations and pulling and stretching in their mouths.  While many dentists offer Oral Conscious Sedation (a pill prior to appointment) and Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), Northgate Dental offers a third option – the choice of IV Sedation. IV Sedation has many benefits over medications administered orally or nasally. The patient can achieve a deeper level of relaxation or sleep, most people experience very little memory of the procedure and because of an open IV line, we can control blood pressure and levels of sedation much better than with oral drugs. The friendly and knowledgeable staff can discuss the sedation options with you and help you choose what will work best for you. As one of the most respected dentists and one that offers the option of IV sedation, Dr. Carter is more than qualified to handle any restorative dentistry that Colorado Springs residents might want or need. I would rather cut off my arm than go to the dentist. Are you sure I will be totally relaxed? – Yes. We will administer the correct amount of sedation so that you will be completely unaware of the treatment you will be receiving. The sedation is the same procedure doctors use for Colonoscopies and other outpatient procedures.

No pain at all? That sounds impossible – Once asleep, most people experience a comfortable visit. They sleep while we work. Post-op discomfort is similar to that of any post-op dental discomfort.

Will I remember the treatment? – Afterward you will have little or no memory of your appointment

Will my insurance cover the sedation cost? – We will review your insurance coverage, but most dental plans do not cover sedation. Payment plans are available. We would be happy to discuss financial options with you.
