It provides a calm, relaxed feeling while in the dental chair, but the feeling disappears quickly so that most people can drive and resume normal activities after their appointment. We recommend this option to take off the edge of mild anxiety. It is not always the best choice for people with high anxiety.
ORAL SEDATION DENTISTRY: TAKE A PILL AND RELAX
Patients can expect a mild state of relaxation with pills given by oral sedation dentists. This is a good option for people who experience some anxiety with their restorative treatments. We first review your medical history. On the day of your appointment, you will take a pill; a companion will bring you to the office. Our experienced clinical teams make certain that you are relaxed and comfortable. We will monitor you closely while you are sedated. Then your companion will take you home afterward.
IV SEDATION DENTISTRY: YOU SLEEP WHILE WE WORK

The patient can achieve a deeper level of relaxation or sleep, most people experience very little memory of the procedure and because of an open IV line, we can control blood pressure and levels of sedation much better than with oral drugs. Yes. We will administer the correct amount of sedation so that you will be completely unaware of the treatment you will be receiving. The sedation is the same procedure doctors use for Colonoscopies and other outpatient procedures.
Once asleep, most people experience a comfortable visit. They sleep while we work. Post-op discomfort is similar to that of any post-op dental discomfort.
Afterward you will have little or no memory of your appointment.
